I’ll be providing sounds and music for this screwball comedy set in the early days of The Talkies, directed by Richard Jones.  This play by Moss Hart and George S. Kaufman was first performed in 1930, only two years after The Jazz Singer became the first commercial talking picture and a worldwide hit.

Hollywood, 1930: The first-ever talking motion picture is a smash hit. Suddenly every actor needs a voice. Three New Yorkers head west to open an elocution school. But in a city heaving with clueless ingénues, all-powerful studio moguls and neurotic screenwriters, success isn’t always easy. Misadventures abound as our three heroes vie to become the next big thing in Tinsel Town.

This play uses recorded sound – I’ll be working with sound associate Mike Winship.
