This talk for sound designers and composers is a short introduction to Max (from Cycling 74), a flexible and highly extendible graphical programming language for media. I’ll give a brief beginners’ tour and explain why Max is a tool to consider when you’re designing or shaping sounds for theatre, historic sights or live musical performance.

This talk will be illustrated using practical examples from my own portfolio. I’ll include a short discussion on the software’s potential to make sound and video that’s coupled in real-time to live action.

For The Association of Sound Designers’ Winter School.
