Sonic Pattern and the Textility of Code

This all day event brings together diverse viewpoints on weaving, knitting, live coding, generative music and digital making, with sessions led by Janis Jeffries, Bronac Ferron and David Toop. In the session ‘Machines’, I’ll be speaking alongside Janis and Ellen Harlizius-Klück. I’ll briefly explore the sculptural data representation methods of time and motion pioneers Frank and Lillian Gilbreth – showing how their work has inspired my ongoing robotics and sound project Trace.
This event is curated by Karen Gaskill, currently working with the Craft Council, and live coder Alex McLean. It’s a collaboration between the Craft Council, ICSRiM (School of Music, University of Leeds), the Thursday Club (Goldsmiths), V&A Digital Futures and the Live Coding Research Network.
