Eugene O’Neill’s expressionist play The Hairy Ape (1922) is moving to a stunning new venue: the vast Drill Hall of The Armory, New York, on 30 March. In this transfer from The Old Vic, London (directed by Richard Jones), Bobby Cannavale will be playing Yank, the labourer at the centre of the play who searches for a sense of belonging as he experiences the shock of modernity in a world controlled by the wealthy. I’ve composed music and sound for this production – much of this accompanies striking movement choreographed by Aletta Collins.
